Here we have a
Vintage DECORATED Large Face Bookbinding Backing, Leather Working, Shoe Making, Cobbler Hammer.
These large domed face hammers are used typically in the vintage leather Bookbinding business.
It can also be used in other trades where leather needs to be tacked into place since the domed face helps to prevent marring of the leather surface. Large Face is 1-3/4" in diameter.
Wedge end is 1-9/16" wide.
Head is 5"L. The Hickory handle is 7-3/4"L below the head.
No cracks in handle.
Very Good 'used tool' condition with typical nicks and short cracks in the hammer face from use.
There is no maker mark but the trop of the head has a small brass rectangle with 3 scrolled initials.  Surrounding this is decorative scrolled etching.  No cracks in the handle.
