Up for auction is this vintage / antique palm leaf manuscript book with Thai writing and beautiful original drawings / art on each of the seven (7) panels.
I believe these may have come from Thailand or perhaps Burma / Myanmar in Southeast Asia.
Incredible detail and all done by hand. These are religious / Buddhist manuscripts and they have wonderful art and mythical gods and figures and foliage on each panel perhaps depicting what is written on the other side.
They have ancient Chinese coins attached to the string on each end to allow it to wrap around it when closed and keep the panels from coming off.
When it is fully open, it measures about 6.6” inches wide and 9.5” inches long. Each palm leaf panel measures about 6.4” inches long and 2.4” inches wide.
I have TWO palm leaf books and then some loose palm leaf panels.
