Temple Bouddha Mandalay style Myanmar XIX

Superb temple Buddha from Myanmar (Burma) and probably dating from the middle of the 19th century. Perfect size, 35cm high, it is probably made of teak wood. It has the Mandalay style and therefore certainly originates from this region. The features are said to be naturalistic and some colonial influences are noticeable. The sculpture itself is very clean and fine, as always with this type of piece. It is red lacquered. This is the "thayo" work of thin, rolled strands of lacquer and ash mastic. The work "hman-zi-shwei-cha" and also present. These are fragments of glass supported by a colored sheet. It is gilded with gold leaf. His position is the Brumisparsha Mudra, "calling on the earth to witness," the moment the Buddha became enlightened under the Bodhi tree. There are 4 small white mirrors missing at the bottom, these gaps are difficult to see. There is no missing red and green mirror or any on the face. The lacquer is thick and has some minor impacts. The hands are intact. The general condition is splendid. It was very little "touched", this conservation is nowhere to be found. The black of the wood is almost invisible. The red of the lacquer is complete, the gold of the gilding is still there at more than 50%. It was probably leaned against a wall, the patina being double. The rear is clean as on the first day. The front has a very strong patina of incense, uncleaned. The patina of time is sublime
