Description
Rare Zeiss COCARETTE "Special" Deluxe Model 519/15. Zeiss Ikon Dresden Germany (1930) according to the lens serial No.1181032. In Exceptional original condition in Original box and Original Instruction booklet. The camera used 116 film for 6.5 X 11 cm. (4 1/4X 2 1/2 inch) "Panoramic" images.
Included are four 120 to 116 Film Adapters so the camera can be used with 120 film.
The Cocarette cameras was initially a Contessa Nettel production modified and refined after the merger with Zeiss. Production spanned from 1927 to 1932.
This "Special" example was fitted with the Very Best Four Element Zeiss Tessar Anastigmat f:4.5 12 cm lens and Compur shutter with speeds from 1sec. - 1/250 sec. plus T., B. & Self-Timer.
The lens is clean no scratches, fungus or cleaning marks and only a very slight amount of internal dust. The Compur shutter works correctly at all speeds including the Self Timer and I believe is accurate. The camera opens and closes correctly (see all the photos). The Superb Morocco Leather Bellows are in excellent condition as is the very attractive Dark Brown Morocco leather covering with its embossed Cocarette and Zeiss ikon logos. Focusing is accomplished with a lever from less than 6 feet. to inf. and is very smooth (there are "click stops") at inf., 30, 15, 10 and 6 Feet so focusing can be done rapidly and it is not necessary to look at the scale). The "waist level" finder is clear and the image is very bright. The It "swivels" for horizontal images and fold when the camera is closed. The "Sports Finder" is perfect and opens and folds correctly. (Photo 8)
Although mentioned in the camerapedia listing as "Non-Self erecting" this "Special" example "Springs Open" with a press of the button! An unusual feature is the entire inside slips out for very easy film loading and rigidity (see photos 10 & 11). The camera is in "collectible" full working condition. There are only very minor signs of age
( Really
Incredible
for its
90+ years old). It has always been stored in the Original Box!
There are No "Zeiss bumps" anywhere!. Another unique feature is the round center of the back (Photo 9 ) is removable for cleaning the rear lens element. This is definitely the very best example I have ever seen and probaly the only example surviving in this condition. It measures only 8 X 3 5/8 X 1 1/2 inches folded.
