The Canon Auto Zoom 814:
The professionnal flagship of Canon Super 8s. All metal build, all the necessary functions and more, but more importantly, a great lens and a great viewfinder. It's a bit larger, but it's still very portable and it's better for handling than the smaller cameras, especially with the top handle. It needs 4 AA batteries for the motor and electric zoom and two PX625 batteries for the light meter. You can manually set the aperture and bypass completely the meter, operating it without the PX625. These PX625 batteries are easily available though.
About this one:
Externally, it is in excellent condition, see photos, it has some light aging marks.
Smooth focus, smooth manual and electric zoom, light temperature filter switching ok, clean battery compartment. Auto & manual aperture settings OK and accurate, showing in viewfinder and aperture moving accordingly. Motor ok at all speeds. Viewfinder is clean and clear.
The lens is OK, clean and clear BUT there is fungus in the front, focusing part of the lens. It's peripheral, and I strongly believe it will have no incidence on image quality.
The filter thread on the lens has a small bump, hardly noticeable. Not big enough to prevent the use of filters. I'm selling it with a Rodenstock UV filter on. Basically solves the issue, you can screw hoods and other filters on top of this one.
