Cine-Kodak Special USAF Boeing B-52 Flight Test 16MM Turret Movie Camera
We are excited to offer this important piece of Military and Aviation history from the Estate of Chester 'Chet' Zielke. Chet's career began at Stearman aircraft and later Boeing in the late 1930's where he became one of the primary engineers on the B-29 before entering WW2. Following the war Chester worked as one of the Chief Engineers on both the B-47 and B-52 development programs.
Offered in this listing is the second of two Kodak Cine-Kodak Special turret 16mm movie cameras used during B-52 flight testing in the early 1950's by Boeing. (The second model will be offered in a separate listing). This model is the Cine-Kodak Special Military version painted in black. This was an original USAF camera issued to Boeing for flight testing during the development of the B-52 bomber. It bears the original US gov't markings as well as the Boeing Aircraft markings and decals. The camera is complete with 2 film magazines also with BAC (Boeing) and US Markings. Incredibly, BOTH magazines still have film loaded in them. Mounted in the turret are 15mm and 25mm Kodak lenses. Also included is the hard to find, original USAF manual issued with the camera.
The camera is very clean given its age and extensive use. Camera winds and the mechanism works, although the camera has not been further tested with film. The turret operates smoothly as well. Please see condition description for a complete condition report.
This is truly a piece of aviation and motion picture history. It is amazing to consider all of the images that it provided to helpo shape a platform still utilized nearly 70 years later in our nation's defense. Don't miss this opportunity to own this important camera.
