Description

You are bidding on an original copy of the
July 1930
issue of
FILMO TOPICS
, Bell & Howell’s answer to Kodak’s
CINE-KODAK NEWS
.
FILMO TOPICS
was first published in the 1920s, shortly after Bell & Howell introduced its line of 16mm movie cameras and projectors. Each issue was filled with articles that described how FILMO cameras and projectors were being used in amateur and professional filmmaking, education, business, etc. Useful information was also provided on basic filming and editing techniques, projection tips, information on using various Bell & Howell lenses, filters and accessories, etc.
Taking advantage of the fact that Bell & Howell cameras were being used by
industrial filmmakers, schools, government agencies, hospitals, nature photographers, and well-to-do advanced amateurs,
each issue usually included an article or two describing the various projects where a FILMO camera was used. There would also be photos showing famous celebrities using their
Filmo
cameras or projectors, and display ads for Bell & Howell cameras, projectors, accessories, etc.
Viewed today, these old issues of
FILMO TOPICS
not only document Bell & Howell’s movie making equipment from yesteryear, but also provide a valuable record of 16mm movie making in the years prior to World War II.
This particular issue has articles on filming in South America, FILMO camera lenses, Advanced
Kodacolor
work, etc. 12 pages printed on high quality “slick” paper.
If you collect vintage Bell & Howell movie cameras and projectors, this is something you should have in your collection.
